Zach Capel carded a four-over-par 76 for co-medalist honors, and his Ripon High golf team took home the Yellow Jacket Invitational’s overall title at Stevinson Ranch Golf Club Monday.

With the top four individuals counting for each team, Ripon totaled 333 strokes — eight better than second-place Kimball. Tournament host Hilmar, a Trans-Valley League rival of Ripon’s, rounded out the top three teams with 344. Ripon Christian scored a 357 for eighth place in the 22-team field.

Capel shares the individual championship with Modesto Christian standout Kyle Intorf. Central Valley sophomore sensation Anthony Bonales and Galt’s Tanner Choate were both third with a 77.

Finishing in a five-way 14th-place tie with a score of 83 were Ripon’s Jason Williamson and Ripon Christian’s Kyle Colyn. Cole Bagdasarian and Nick Sharp each turned in an 87 for 26th place.

Ripon Christian’s Andrew Manes was 22nd with an 86. Also scoring for the Knights were Christian Manes (90) and Brandon Dotinga (98).

Ripon returns to TVL play today against Hughson at River Oak Golf Course. The Indians will then face their crosstown rivals from RC Wednesday at Spring Creek Country Club.
