East Union High frosh thrash Johansen

Seven players scored for East Union on Thursday in a 50-14 running-clock rout of Johansen in non-league freshman football action at Dino Cunial Field. 

The Lancers led 31-0 and were led by Lane Cefalu (12 carries 98 yards) who scored on a 32-yard run. Anthony Corrales (six carries, 85 yards) had touchdown runs of 4 and 25 yards, Ryland Toves (four carries, 64 yards) scored from 18 yards out, Jonathan Castaneda had a 36-yard touchdown run and Miladi Messaoud wrapped up the offensive scoring with a 12-yard run. 

The East Union defense scored twice – once on a 30-yard fumble recovery by Zelmer Vedder and when Justin Mount (eight tackles) forced a fumble and a safety. 

Kevin McBrown had eight tackles for the Lancers, Cefalu and Jesse Mitanda made five stops and Corrales, Frank Alvarez and Jesse Miranda made four apiece. Gabriel Stokes added an interception.

MODESTO – Victor Martinez ran for three touchdowns for the Buffaloes at Johansen High School.   

Martinez totaled 103 yards on 14 carries with touchdown runs of 4, 5 and 8 yards. Calvin Ramsey added a 4-yard run and David Vega scored from 30 yards out. Osca Anaya forced a fumble in the end zone and recovered it for a touchdown. 

Anaya was in on 13 tackles, Destin De La Torre added 10 stops and Dominik Neuharth had six tackles.
