East Union, Manteca score frosh victories

Anthony Corrales ground out 181 yards for East Union on Thursday and Tyler Diaz scored two touchdowns for the Lancers on the way to a 20-6 win over Sierra in Valley Oak League freshman action at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

Diaz had six carries for 94 yards with a 23-yard touchdown run as part of a 302-yard ground attack spearheaded by the offensive line of Daniel Peters, Frank Alvarez, Andrew Mount, Erick Miramontes, Kevin McBrown and Fernando Ambriz. Jonathan Castaneda added a 22-yard touchdown run and Diaz pulled in a 15-yard scoring throw from Jesus Gomez.

Castaneda led the East Union defense that held the Timberwolves to 97 total yards with 11 tackles followed by Lane Cefalu with nine, Ryland Toves with seven, Fernando Duran six and McBrown five. Cristian Perez added two interceptions. 

Jacob Allen got Sierra on the board with 19-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Christian Threadgill recovered a fumble for the Timberwolves.

Aiden Nicolas rushed for a whopping 281 yards for the Buffaloes at Guss Schmiedt Field.  

Nicolas had 25 carries and after a scoreless first half he tallied third-quarter touchdown runs of 5, 20 and 61 yards. Krys Charles scored from two yards out in the fourth period. 

Nicolas and Angelo Lopez led the Manteca defense with four tackles apiece. Dominic Neuharth added three stops with Charles and Jonathon Aranda each had an interception
