East Union pounds Mountain House in NorCal Classic play

TRACY – East Union evened their tournament record at 1-1 Friday night with a 13-3, four inning win over Mountain House in Gold Bracket action of the NorCal Classic at the Tracy Softball Complex.

 Mackenzie Salgado led the Lancers (12-7), going 3 for 3 with four RBI and a double. Bradee Jeffery knocked in a run and went 2 for 2.

 “I would like to see come good old-fashioned hustle up and down the roster,” East Union coach Brian Goulart said. “We need that.”

 The Lancers face Linden this morning in a third-round contest at 11:30.

St. Francis 6, East Union 2

 The Troubadours (13-6) scored all six of their runs in the third inning behind four Lancers errors. 

 Salgado gave East Union a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-out, two-RBI double. Allie Parker went 2 for 3. 

 

Silver Bracket

Lathrop 9, Johansen 7

 The Spartans (3-19) scored all of their runs in the fifth inning to close the tournament with a win. 

 Hailey Hunter (2 for 3, two runs), Isabella Campos Rankin (two runs), and Isabel Terra (run) all had two RBI for Lathrop. Bryanna Alarcon (2 for 3, run, stolen base), Alina Fuentes (double, run) and Emma Grisham (run) each added an RBI. 


 El Capitan 13, Lathrop 7

 The Gauchos (2-13) of Merced put up eight runs in the fourth inning and that keyed the win.

 Fuentes knocked in three runs for the Spartans, going 2 for 4 with a double. Grisham went 3 for 4 with two RBI, a run and a double and Alarcon (double) and Julie Odom each had an RBI for Lathrop.  

 

Ramsey Classic Softball Tournament

Ripon Christian 21, 

Modesto Christian 0 (4)

 MODESTO – The Knights (15-3) scored seven runs in the first, second and fourth innings in the second-round contest against the Crusaders (0-16) at Modesto Christian High School. 

 Madison DeGraaf had the big bat for Ripon Christian, going 4 for 5 with six RBI, two runs and a double. Elizabeth Thomas belted a home run and had four RBI, going 2 for 4. Ariel VanderWoude (2 for 4) scored three runs and knocked in two and Morgan Van Elderen doubled and had an RBI. 

DeGraaf threw three no-hit innings, walking one and striking out eight. Sarah Brown struck out two and allowed a hit in one inning of work.

 The Knights face Millennium of Tracy in a semifinal contest at 9:30 this morning.
