East Union scores VOL win at Sierras expense

In a battle of the unbeaten on Thursday Brooke Riley scorched the greens at the Manteca Golf Course with a 35 to lead East Union to a 232-254 win over Sierra in Valley Oak League play. 

Allie Tajii was next best for the Lancers (3-0 VOL) at 45 followed by Rebecca Leonard (47), Chloe Cardenas (54) and Natalie Cowan (51)

 The Timberwolves (2-1) had three golfers shoot a 48 – McKenna Doyle, Kayla Wilson and Legacy Barnes. Arlena Gavino had a 51 and Kaitlyn Looney a 59.

 

Central Catholic 290, Manteca 262

 Danika Hunt shot a personal-best 48 for the Buffaloes (2-1) and freshman Kylee Eberle had a 56. 

 Arshnoor Kaur had a 59 for Manteca followed by Logan Jackson (62) and Alyssa Gutierrez (65).

 Gianna Vok of the Raiders earned medalist honors with a 46.

Kimball 212, Lathrop 332

 The Spartans were led by Chloe Malicoat 64 at French Camp Golf Course.

Lathrop’s Diamond McCarthy was close behind at 65 followed by Kaitlynn Edrington and Vialsy Cabrales at 67 and Haley Mathews at 69.

 Maya Crooms shot a 38 for the Jaguars.

 

Ripon 201, Sonora 215

Breeana Alvarez paced the Indians with co-medalist honors at 43 in non-league action on Tuesday at Mountain Springs Golf Course in Sonora in 100-plus degree heat.

 Claire Wever had a 51 for Ripon with Alex Gonzales shooting a 53 and Sierra Atilano 54.

 “The girls played well considering they have never played Mountain Springs Golf Course before,” Indians coach Eric Dambrosio said.  “We went over each hole and how to play it before we teed off.

 “Sonora is a solid team and were 2-0 going into the match. I am proud of the way they kept trying despite the sweltering heat. The girls toughed it out and got the victory.”
