LATHROP — East Union took out its frustrations on Lathrop on Wednesday.

Coming off its first Valley Oak League three-match losing streak in seven seasons, the reigning Sac-Joaquin Section champion Lancers busted out of their scoring slump in a 10-0 rout. Two of their goals came in the first half, but they broke out for six in a 20-minute stretch in the second. East Union (4-4, 10-5 overall) was shut out by Central Catholic and Manteca in two of its last three setbacks.

“I’m so proud of them, because everything we planned to in practice we did it in the game tonight,” East Union coach Victor Polanco said. “We wanted to work on our passes and crosses, that was our goal, but we also found the back of the net. I have to give Lathrop a lot of credit because in the first half they were in the game, but I think in the second half they got a little bit tired.”

Stephanie Flores recorded a hat trick, scoring in the 29th, 43rd and 51st minutes. Julia Villagon added two goals. Standout defender Mariah Jeffrey started the barrage with her first her first goal of the season, dribbling the length of the field on a breakaway in the 10th minute. Britney Moneyhun, Chloe Cardenas, Clarissa Lecce and Daisy Perez also scored one apiece.

East Union’s frosh-soph team also won decisively, 11-0.
