Although Sierra lost a heartbreaker by penalty kicks on Saturday to Pacheco of Los Banos for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV championship, Aguilar played a big part in the Timberwolves vying for the title.
On Tuesday, February 28, the Sierra senior forward blasted in two goals in the Timberwolves’ thrilling 2-1 semifinal overtime victory on the road against Livingston.
In the first overtime period Aguilar took a pass from Kevin Mendiola and with the Wolves goalkeeper closing in on him Aguilar worked the ball around the goalkeeper and got it in the net for a 2-1 lead Sierra would hold. Aguilar got the first Timberwolves goal 25 minutes in on a header off of a direct kick by Eriq Kurys.
Aguilar helped the No. 8 Timberwolves stun top-seeded Galt in a 1-0 win at Galt on Thursday, Feb. 23, when he scored the only goal of the game.
Aguilar scored a team-leading 28 goals this season and added 12 assists. He was named to the All-Valley Oak League first team.
