Espinosa in on 5 TDs as Cowboys rout Galt

Joseph Espinosa put on a show in the Manteca Cowboys’ 34-6 varsity win over the Galt Jr. Warriors at Galt High this past Saturday.

The do-it-all quarterback rushed for 177 yards, threw for 131 and had a hand in five touchdowns. He hooked up with La’Fozo Mackson for a 75-yard TD, while Tyler Slaughter was on the receiving end of a 56-yard pass play. Espinosa scored on runs of 47, 86 and 29 yards.

Mason James contributed 33 rushing yards and a pair of two-point conversions.

Galt did its damage early and scored on its opening drive. Manteca handcuffed the Jr. Warriors for the remainder of the game, getting five tackles each from Vincent Ferro and Slaughter. Brayden Hardcastle and Mackson (sack, 2 fumble recoveries) pitched in four tackles apiece. James Gorman had an interception.

The Cowboys improved to 5-1 in the DYSA NorCal action.

Junior varsity

Cowboys 33, Warriors 0

Anthony Martinez rushed in a touchdown and threw for another while scrambling for 61 yards on four carries.

Jordan Doyle piled up 104 yards and a TD on 15 carries. Mathew Pilkay added 23 yards rushing and 99 more on four pass completions.

Gabriel Valloton turned in seven tackles for the defense.

Cowboys 33, Warriors 0

Alex Scoz scored three touchdowns for the still-undefeated Cowboys. He returned a kickoff 60 yards for one touchdown and scored two more from scrimmage while totally 50 rushing yards.

Quarterback BJ Davis hooked up with Angel Ramirez for a 50-yard touchdown. Darias Doyle rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Ryan Faias (3 sacks), Brent Serbousek (3 sacks) and Alex Cervantes (8 tackles, 2 sacks) were among the many standouts on defense.
