At Saturday’s Sac-Joaquin Section swim championships, Chris Johnson made a wager with his freestyle relay team of Natalie Heihn, Alicia Alfter, Maryline Hoste, and Heather Craft.

The East Union High coach promised to shave off his hair if his girls’ 4-by-100 meter group bettered the time of 3 minutes, 57 seconds.

Entering the section championships at Tokay High, the foursome had a seed time of 4:01, with the school record at 3:59.02.

Heihn, Alfter, Hoste and Craft came through a 14th place time of 3:54.04.

“They shattered the school mark,” said Johnson, who promises to make good on his bet by getting his scalp shaven this Thursday after school at the pool.

Individually, Heihn competed in 200 freestyle (2:00.12) and 100 backstroke (1:01.35), taking 16th and 12th respectively. Alfter was 10th in the 100 butterfly (1:00.3) and 13th in the 100 backstroke (1:02.39).

Sierra High also competed, with Kara Hall leading the way by taking second place in the 100 breaststroke.

Niki DeGeorge took 16th in the 100 butterfly while Josh Revives finished 13th in the 200 freestyle.
