EU holds off Kimball thanks to Rileys 36

Brooke Riley carded a 1-under 36 on Manteca Park Golf Course’s front nine to anchor East Union’s tightly-contested 251-256 victory over visiting Kimball on Wednesday.

The Lancers improved to 4-0 while handing Kimball its second Valley Oak League loss. Patricia Fabila (48) and Maya Grooms (51) placed second and third, respectively, for the Jaguars.

Chloe Cardenas (52), Rebeca Leonard (53), Natalie Cowan (54) and Mikayla Pangburn (56) rounded out East Union’s score.

Sedonia Estacio of Central Catholic was low medalist at with a 47 at Manteca Park Golf Course.

Manteca’s Katie Hankins and Isabella Garcia-Mendez were part of a three-way tie for second with 52s. Both had highlight shots on hole 4, where Garcia-Mendez wedged a birdie in from 100 yards out and Hankins sank a par chip off the fringe. Other scoring contributors were Danika Hunt (58), Dominique Graham (61) and Logan Jackson (66).
