Standout senior Mikaela Alger leads five Ripon Christian girls basketball players on the all-Southern League team.

Ripon Christian (13-1, 21-5 overall) captured a share of the conference championship — its first since winning the Trans-Valley League’s outright title in 2004 — with Turlock Christian. Fittingly, RC’s Ed Mulder and TC’s Edwin Santiago were named Co-Coaches of the Year.

Alger is one of three Knights tabbed first-team players. She is averaging 13 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

Ripon Christian backcourt mates Kaylie Colyn (7.8 ppg), and Teagan Manus (8.1 ppg, 4.6 apg, 2.6 spg) a sophomore, join Alger on the first team.

Seniors Morgan Alger and Mikayla Manus were awarded honorable mention.

Turlock Christian had six players honored, with junior star Halie Bergman garnering Most Valuable Player honors. She is one of the Sac-Joaquin Section’s most productive players with averages of 24.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.7 steals, 4.4 assists and 1.9 blocks.

With Ripon Christian and Turlock Christian splitting their regular-season series, they met again in the SJS Division V semifinals. Bergman amassed 31 points in the 70-54 win for the Eagles.

Ripon Christian opens the CIF Northern California playoffs tonight against University of San Francisco.
