East Union won the majority of the matches played, but it wasn’t enough to overcome its low numbers in a 6-3 loss to visiting Lathrop on Tuesday.
With only five players on the team, the Lancers had to forfeit all three doubles contests and a singles match.
They gave themselves a decent chance to pull out a win despite being shorthanded. No. 1 singles player Jake Kramer knocked off Chang Hoang 6-1, 1-6, 10-7. Jeffin Abraham also needed to a third set and fended off Brandon Tabofunda 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 in the No. 3 match. Matthew Vadachira won at No. 2 6-4, 6-2 against Nick Licea.
T.J. Asuncion took the No. 4 match for Lathrop, defeating Ryan Austin 7-5, 6-3. Akshat Giri swept Johns Thomas, 6-1, 6-0.
