Lehigh freshman Cassie Waggy batted .611 (11 for 18) in the Mountain Hawks’ 10-game run in the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.

For her efforts, the 2011 East Union High graduate was named the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Week.

Lehigh went 7-3 last week, and Waggy was a big reason why. She had multiple base hits in four contests, slugged two doubles and a triple while driving in six runs. She is currently tops on the team in batting average (.458) and on-base percentage (.552).

Waggy, a corner infielder at East Union, has started six games as the designated player and one in right field for Lehigh (8-8), the defending champion of the Patriot League.
