Henk Gaalswyk opened Ripon High’s Trans-Valley League contest at Hughson on fire, scorching the Huskies for four 3-pointers in the first quarter on his way to game-high scoring honors in a 59-49 Ripon win Friday.

The Indians (2-1, 7-8 overall) rode the hot hand of Gaalswyk to a quick halftime lead, building the game’s difference behind Gaalswyk’s early sharp-shooting.

“His first half was the difference in the game,” Ripon head coach Rod Wright said. “He really got it going in the first half.”

Jake McCreath also finished in double-figures with 12 and Cole Herrin chipped in with 11. Gaalswyk, who finished with 19, recorded 16 of his game-high total in the first half.

The Indians will be on the court at 4:30 p.m. for the Modesto Christian MLK Showcase against Modesto High. Ripon will continue its TVL grind Tuesday with a contest against Modesto Christian.
