Manteca’s girls basketball team is off and running, improving to 2-0 with a 63-24 win at Tokay on Saturday.

Marcelina Chaparro led the way with 20 points, five assists, three steals and three blocks. Kerena Malone added 16 points, 12 rebounds and three steals. Jada Ikharo had 10 points, seven boards and two blocks.

The Buffaloes opened the season on the road Friday with a 47-18 blowout at Beyer. They’re back in action today at home against Lodi.

Manteca’ junior varsity squad is also 2-0 after its 49-7 win over Tokay. Aaliyahrae Jacobs poured in 22 points and five steals. Kalaja Reese chipped in eight points.
