LIVINGSTON — Ripon picked up a pivotal girls soccer win Thursday, edging past Livingston 1-0 in a battle for the top spot in the Trans-Valley League.
The lone goal came in the 73rd minute and was set up by a free kick from the Indians’ end of the field. Defender Kylie Tijero launched it forward to a streaking Aubree Pelon, who broke away from the defense and blasted it past the charging Hughson keeper.
Ashley Pugh finished with three saves for Ripon (4-0 TVL, 9-3 overall). The Indians held a 15-9 shot advantage. Livingston dropped to 3-1 in league, 6-6 overall.
Ripon hosts Kimball for a nonleague match on Saturday.
