GOLF: Ilardi wins Division V golf title
Amick, Manto to join Ripon standout at Masters

AUBURN — Gabbi Ilardi’s stellar freshman campaign has been extended another week after she won the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V Tournament on Monday.

Her 12-over 84 was one stroke better than Delta Charter’s Gabi Franco and led Valley Foothill League North Division champion Ripon to a second-place team finish at Auburn Valley Golf Club. The Indians ended up five strokes shy of tourney titlist Bear River, which totaled a 488 and advanced to the SJS Masters Championships.

Only the top team in the tournament advances along with six individuals from the rest of the field. Hughson, the VFL South champion, took third with a 541.

“I am super proud of the girls,” Ripon coach Eric Dambrosio said. “They played hard and didn’t give up.”

Kassidy Isham (100), Myra Toledo (100), Bianca Toledo (102) and Adrianna DiGiulio (102) contributed to Ripon’s overall score. Ripon Chrisitan’s Janine Prins (122) and Caitlin Van Gorkum (149) also competed. Fellow Knight Madi De Graf qualified for the section tournament for a fourth straight year but withdrew.

The Masters takes place next Monday, Oct. 28.


Division III

AUBURN — Two Manteca golfers earned berths to the Masters tournament.

East Union’s Melinda Amick carded a 7-over 78, while Valley Oak League MVP Mikaella Manto of Sierra turned in an 82 at The Ridge Golf Club. Oakdale placed first with a 408 and will be joined by runner-up Vista del Lago (433) as team qualifiers at Masters. 


VOLLEYBALL

Ripon 3, Hughson 0

RIPON — The Indians (8-3, 17-5 overall) swept their regular-season home finale, 25-18, 25-11, 25-23. They end Trans Valley League play Wednesday at Modesto Christian.

Shannon Johnson delivered 26 assists to lead the offense, while Sydney Thomason put away eight kills. Brooke Kaiser served four aces, and Jordynn Russell paced the defense with 11 digs.


WATER POLO

Oakdale 20, Sierra 2 (B)

Oakdale 34, Sierra 3 (G)

Payton Perez produced a pair of goals for the Sierra girls team, and Genavieve Gaines pitched in with the other. Michelle Ayala recorded eight blocks.

Zach Van Zwaluwenberg and Jackson Brunn scored for the boys.


JV volleyball

Ripon 2, Hughson 0

Ronni McIntosh amassed 22 digs, Reese Hansen added seven assists and Jaeger Snyder hammered five kills as Ripon cruised to a 25-17, 25-18 victory.


Frosh volleyball 

Ripon 2, Hughson 0

The Indians held on for the 25-22, 25-23 win.

Avery McKiernan sparked Ripon with five kills and three aces. Nina White and Erin Jackson dished out eight and six assists, respectively. Gianna Robustelli picked up six digs, and Drew Peters turned in three kills.
