Mikaella Manto prevailed as low medalist Wednesday at Manteca Park Golf Course in the first of three Valley Oak League tournaments.
The Sierra sophomore held off a strong field with an 8-over-par 80 finish, one stoke better than Oakdale’s Kaylie Parola and East Union’s Melinda Amick.
Parola is the No. 6 player on the reigning league champion Mustangs, who further cemented their place at the top of the team standings with a 418. East Union ended as runner-up with a 440, while Manteca (543), Sierra (594) and Weston Ranch (715) followed from the Nos. 4-6 spots behind third-place Kimball (511).
Oakdale’s Andrea York, East Union’s Michelle Euan and Kimball’s Rachel Maxfield each carded an 82. Makayla Christiansen, one of five Oakdale players with sub-90 scores, checked in with an 83.
Ashly Trinidad contributed an 86 for East Union, while Brittany Barrington had an 89. Tianna Torrice and Heighlee Mosher both scored a 102.
Isabella Gonzales paced Manteca with an 88. Sophia Serrano (100), Mary Ann Bueno (113), Emma Kadillak (115) and Ayva Savoy (118) made up the rest of the Buffaloes’ score.
Backing Manto for Sierra were Julia Erdman (105), Anna Dickinson (126), Madison Willox (135) and Jazmine Escobar (148).
Scoring contributors for Weston Ranch are Deena Faruqi (133), Nataly Ameda (140), Nayeli Rios (146), Arianah Calvo (148) and LeaZae Smith (148).
