Two of the top prep golfers in the area squared off Monday as Sierra hosted rival East Union for a Valley Oak League match at Manteca Park Golf Course.
Sierra's Mikaella Manto continued her early-season tear, finishing with an even-par 36 for the low score. But it was Brittany Barrington and the Lancers who prevailed in the team result, 259-301.
Barrington's 39 led East Union. Ashley Trinidad and Michelle Euan helped key the win with a 45 and 49, respectively. Heighlee Mosher added a 59 and Morgan Geske a 67.
Julia Erdman chipped in a 59 for the Timberwolves. Jenna Villanueva (63), Anna Dickinson (66) and Rylee Zavala (77) rounded out Sierra's score.
Ripon 149, Ripon Christian 244
Gabbi Ilardi highlighted the round at Ripon's Jack Tone Golf Course with an eagle on the 232-yard, par-4 fifth hole. She sank a 15-foot putt after driving the green and finished with a 1-over 32.
Ilardi was backed by some solid scores from Indians teammates. Zoe Bremer followed with a 37, Tyla Brangam a 39 and Katie Martin a 41.
Ripon Christian was led by Caitlin Van Gorkum's 54. Alison Mendes (57), Natalie Mendes (61) and Ruth Visser (72) were the rest of the Knights' scorers.
Both teams agreed to take the top four scores as they normally would in the Valley Foothill League. They're in the VOL for this year only.
Patterson 9, Lathrop 0
The visiting Tigers registered the shutout in this Western Athletic Conference tilt held at Manteca Regional Tennis Center, but it did not come easy.
Lathrop's Hailey Hunter put up a fight at No. 4 singles, falling to Yasmene Lewis 7-5, 4-6, 7-10. Tammy Pham threatened to force a third set in the No. 1 singles match but fell short to Zianna Garcia, 2-6, 5-7.
Juliana Garcia Landa lost to Nandya Figueroa 1-6, 4-6 in No. 6 singles. No. 1 doubles partners Godwina Ogbeide and Madilynn Romero lost by the same score.
