Two of the top prep golfers in the area squared off Monday as Sierra hosted rival East Union for a Valley Oak League match at Manteca Park Golf Course.

Sierra's Mikaella Manto continued her early-season tear, finishing with an even-par 36 for the low score. But it was Brittany Barrington and the Lancers who prevailed in the team result, 259-301.

Barrington's 39 led East Union. Ashley Trinidad and Michelle Euan helped key the win with a 45 and 49, respectively. Heighlee Mosher added a 59 and Morgan Geske a 67.

Julia Erdman chipped in a 59 for the Timberwolves. Jenna Villanueva (63), Anna Dickinson (66) and Rylee Zavala (77) rounded out Sierra's score.

Ilardi was backed by some solid scores from Indians teammates. Zoe Bremer followed with a 37, Tyla Brangam a 39 and Katie Martin a 41.

Ripon Christian was led by Caitlin Van Gorkum's 54. Alison Mendes (57), Natalie Mendes (61) and Ruth Visser (72) were the rest of the Knights' scorers.

Both teams agreed to take the top four scores as they normally would in the Valley Foothill League. They're in the VOL for this year only.
