PATTERSON — East Union’s Tyler Griggs repeated as the Valley Oak League MVP, Oakdale closed out its dominant season for the team title and Lathrop secured its first-ever postseason tournament appearance Tuesday at Diablo Grande.
Griggs, a sophomore committed to UCLA, was low medalist with a 2-over-par 74 in the VOL Championships. He held off runner-up Christian Guzman (76) of Lathrop and five Oakdale players — Ryan Meyer (77), Max Moore (81), Calvin Reed (83), Tristan Jaramillo (85), David Myrtkis (86) — for the top spot.
Oakdale went undefeated in the regular season and easily won the tournament with a 412 score. East Union (509) and Lathrop (556) finished second and third, respectively, and will join the Mustangs in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Tournament held next Monday at Morgan Creek Golf Club in Roseville.
Also qualifying for the individual tournament are six individuals who are not part of advancing teams. Among them is Manteca’s Matsua Garcia-Mendez, who carded a 102. Manteca finished fourth with a 579, and Sierra fifth with a 588.
Kyle Dorland finished in ninth place with a 98 for East Union, which also got scoring contributions from Gabriel Espinoza (111), Brandon Ugalino (112) and Dawson Mix (114).
Lathrop’s Luke Marcello finished 10th with a 100. Other Spartans scorers were Mads Boellert (109), Sebastian Iniquez (131) and Andrew Lam (140).

Trans-Valley League
LODI — Ripon finished third in the TVL Tournament held at Micke Grove Golf Links, carding a 476 behind league champion Escalon (444) and runner-up Hughson (462).
All three teams will compete in the SJS Division V Tournament next Monday at Castle Oaks Golf Course in Ione. While there was little drama in the team standings, Ripon’s Nico Ilardi squared off with Chase Shears of Hughson for the individual league title.
Shears placed third with an 80, but it was good enough to edge out fourth-place Ilardi (82). Escalon’s Nolan Rockwell was low medalist with a 75, and fellow Cougar Nathan Sarkozy took second with a 79.
Ripon’s Cade McCusker secured his spot on the all-league team with an 89, good for sixth place. Aidan Nilsson (100), Kenny Johnson (102) and Seth Whitey (107) round out the Indians’ total.
Southern Athletic League
PATTERSON — On Monday, Danton Indelicato and Ripon Christian affirmed their championships at Diablo Grande.
Indelicato finished 7-over-79 to earn MVP honors. Darrin Doek and Brett Doek finished with a 93 and 103, respectively, and are on the all-league team. Dylan Koolhass (103) and Alec Berghorst (107) capped the Knights’ first-place score of 485.
