Guzmans 2-under 34 helps Lathrop set new program record

TRACY — Sophomore Christian Guzman finished 2-under 34, and Lathrop set a new team record Tuesday in its 227-240 victory over Sierra at Old River Golf Course.
Guzman got on a roll early, scoring back-to-back birdies on holes 2 and 3 before missing a 3-footer for par on No. 5. He recorded his third birdie on 7 but missed birdie putts on the final two holes.
Robby Horrocks contributed a 45 for the Spartans, who are now 4-9 in the Valley Oak League. Robert Berndt (47), Andrew Lorentz (48) and Curtis Kimbro (53) all shot personal bests.
Sierra’s Nathaniel Livingston checked in with the second-best score of 44. David Ketner (48), Dillon St. Claire (49), Antonio Samson (48) and Damian Simon (51) rounded out scoring. The Timberwolves dropped to 6-6.

Manteca 266
Manteca’s Ray Gallardo and Kimball’s Chris Maxfield were co-medalists with 46s at Manteca Park Golf Course.
Also contributing for Manteca (2-11, 3-13 overall) were Dylan Haro (49), Isaac Bill (58), Ruben Hurtado (56) and Johnny White (57). Inigo Jaque and Matthew Jaurique each had a 47 for Kimball.

Kimball 250, Lathrop 273
TRACY — Guzman turned in another medalist round Monday at Tracy Golf & Country Club, finishing with a 45.
Kimbro (55), Horrocks (54), Berndt (55) and Lorentz (65) also factored into the scoring. Maxfield paced Kimball with a 48.

RIPON — Freshman Connor Larkin, playing sick, bookended an even-par round of 35 with a birdie and a bogey at Spring Creek Golf & Country Club.
The rest of the Indians (8-1) scored better or matched Modesto Christian’s No. 1. Rhet Herrin carded a 41, Justin Brito and Trent Hawes added 45s and Luis Candido finished with a 46. Trevor Terpstra led the visiting Crusaders with a 46.
