Ripon High topped all other public-school boys golf programs in the Lincoln Tournament Monday, placing fourth overall at Brookside Country Club in Stockton.

Defending Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament champion Jesuit of Sacramento took first with a 411. Christian Brothers (414) was the runner-up, while St. Mary’s edged Ripon (440) by a stroke.

St. Mary’s “B” team and Modesto High finished tied for fifth with a 452 apiece in the 16-team field.

“I was real happy with how the team did considering the teams that were there, the pin placements, the course and the weather,” Ripon coach Chris Musseman said. “It was a great measuring stick for us.”

Sophomore Andrew Bonner carded a 6-over-par 78 for a third-place finish, an impressive score after missing Ripon’s preseason workouts while playing for the school’s basketball team.

Josh Richter also came up big, finishing with an 80 for a sixth-place medal. Rounding out the team’s score were Zach Capel (89), Jordan Williamson (96) and Jack Brierly (97).

Hunter Rapley of Christian Brothers captured the individual title with a 75.

The Indians will host West High of Tracy today for a non-conference dual match at Spring Creek Country Club before returning to Trans Valley League play Thursday against defending champion Escalon on the road.
