It was a tough end to Lathrop High's season.
In Tuesday's Sac-Joaquin Section Division III opener, the No. 6-seed Spartans were roughed up by No. 11 Kimball, 91-49.
"They made us feel their size," said Lathrop coach Robin Hong.
He added: "They killed us with their interior attack."
The Jaguars (17-13) patrolled the paint with likes of 6-8 senior Jacob Sarmieto, Armon Naweed (6-6), Greg Thompson (6-5), and Benito Ruiz (6-4).
But it was 6-3 senior guard Chris Obiajulu who did most of the damage with his game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Spartans (19-9), fresh off capturing the Western Athletic Conference title, were outrebounded by visiting Kimball, 35-21.
The Jaguars jumped out to an 8-2 lead, with the Spartans answering back with 3s by Raymond Carson and Ahmad Jacquet.
Kimball broke up the 8-8 tie by going on a 12-3 run. Obiajulu had an and-one three pointer and Naweed closed out the quarter with a trey.
The game turned from bad to worse for Lathrop, which had difficulty finding an offensive rhythm throughout the evening.
For the Jaguars, it was the opposite. They were efficient attacking the basket and, defensively, limiting the Spartans to one shot per possession.
At the intermission, Lathrop trailed, 47-23.
Kimball continued to tack on to the lead, outscoring the Spartans, 14-4, to open the third.
Lathrop's best run soon followed with Camryn Hayes scoring on a spin move, Elijah McCullough cashing in on a steal, Christian Buerster dropping in two on a put back, and Anthony McKinnon and Hayes nailing 3s.
Even at that, Kimball still maintained an insurmountable 69-40 lead, and had four players score in double figures.
Besides Obiajulu, Ruiz finished with 15 points, five boards, and a steal while Jayden Richardson and Naweed chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Jacquet was Lathrop's top scorer with eight points. He also had three steals.
Napoleon Reeves had seven points and seven rebounds, and McKinnon contributed seven points, three boards, and three steals.
