In a meeting between two former Trans Valley League foes, the Ripon Christian girls soccer team were all over Modesto Christian, outshooting the Crusaders 25-4 on their way to an easy 5-0 win Friday in Ripon.

The Knights (5-1) improved on an impressive showing Thursday, following it up with a near-perfect match against the Crusaders. The Knights built a quick 3-0 lead and would do nothing to forfeit their early effort.

“It was nice to see our former TVL competitors,” Ripon Christian head coach Travis Haveman said. “The girls really played well.”

Ripon got goals from Kirsten Lown, Natalie Van Gronigen, Ashley Roberts, Mikaela Alger and Morgan Alger, while Roberts, Rachael Kinser and Kellie Castro all divvied out assists.

The Knights will be on the pitch today during the Big Valley Christian Tournament.

“It’s one of the highlights we look forward to each year,” Haveman said. “With three to four one-hour games, it will be a good test of endurance for the girls.”

Manuleleua scored the game’s first goal on an assist from Morris and returned instantly for her second goal. Rupika Pabla converted on an assist from Curry to send the Buffaloes into halftime with a 4-0 lead.

Curry opened the second half with her second goal and was followed up by Esmeralda Cuenca’s goal, assisted by Morris. Morris would chip in her two goals for the team’s eighth and ninth score and Rocio Lopez closed out the night with her first goal of the season.

Manteca (6-2-1) will open up the VOL campaign with a trip to Tracy to take on the Kimball Jaguars.
