Knights cruise through Gustine

The Ripon Christian baseball squad found little resistance from the Gustine Redskins Wednesday, mercy ruling the Southern League cellar dwellers 14-1 to close out the RC Knights’ first season competing in the conference.

Wes Lown handled the pitching for Ripon Christian, scattering five hits and holding the Redskins to one earned run while striking out three. Lown also had some success in the batter’s box, smashing a pair of doubles to help his cause.

Elijah English had a pair of doubles and drove in three for Ripon Christian, and Aaron Fay was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Nick Wehrli was 2-for-5 in the win, while Dominic Nelson had an RBI double and scored twice. Michael Perrelliat scored three times and went 2-for-2.

Josh English and Kalvin Prins also collected a hit for Ripon Christian.

The Knights (7-7 SL, 9-14-2 overall) close their inaugural season .500, ending with a four-game winning streak.
