Knights dispatch Salida despite 5 turnovers

The Ripon Knights varsity overcame five turnovers to defeat the visiting Salida Steeler-Jags 20-12 on Saturday in Trans-Valley Youth Football League action.

Anden Ries picked up 122 yards on six carries for Ripon. Carson Sanders (17 carries, 81 yards) had 4- and 5- yard touchdown runs and yards receiving Jace Beidleman (72 yards passing) made a 20-yard touchdown pass to Israel San Nicolas (35 yards receiving).

Ries made seven tackles and forced a fumble. Jacob Camper added six tackles, Rey Galindo and Israel San Nicolas five a piece and Andrew Mensonidis (fumble recovery) and Cote Windorski two each. 

  

Junior varsity 

Knights 36, Steeler-Jags 7

Hunter Steele led Ripon with 113 yards rushing and three touchdowns. 

Nate Cedolini (34 yards rushing) added a touchdown. 

Great outside blocking by wideouts Colt Isham, Josh Jacobson (one catch), Ben Vita, Brody Nail, Isaiah Hernandez, Jackson Howell, and Mason Fontes kept the running lanes around the outside open for the Knights running backs. 

Ripon’s J.P. Abrew (two tackles) retirned an interception 90 yards for a touchdown. 

Eddie Ramirez made 10 tackles for the Knights, Steele nine and Mario Garcia five. Cedolini made an interception.

 

MVFL  

Ripon Chiefs varsity 34, 

Waterford Sabercats 7

Ripon’s Garrison Reis threw for three touchdowns and more than 100 yards and added a rushing touchdown as well.  

Reis (4 for 5, 106 yards) hit Jesse Ochoa (two receptions, 42 yards) with scoring passes of 5 and 37 yards and had a 1-yard scoring plunge. Xzavier Clark (two receptions, 64 yards) pulled in a 16-yard touchdown scoring toss from Reis. Kaden MacDannald (13 carries, 39 yards) scored on a 1-yard run and Frank Teicheira IV added 32 yards on 10 carries.

Reis was in on seven tackles with two interceptions. Teicheira IV made five tackles, Skylar Ortiz (tipped pass) and MacDannald four apiece and Ochoa (forced fumble, fumble recovery, tipped pass), Clark, Logan House and Canaan Clark two each.

Ty Herrin forced and recovered a fumble, Rylan McDonald forced a fumble and Eli Buck, Marcus Atienza and Julian Myers all contributed on defense for Ripon.

 

Junior varsity

Chiefs 27, Sabercats 13 

Eric Guevara scored three touchdowns for the Chiefs.

Guevara posted back-to-back touchdowns on kick-off returns and a 30-yard touchdown run. Xaiden Reyes added a 30-yard touchdown run with Logan Lefebvre and Jayden McGee contributing on offense. 

Ripon’s Leo Barrera made an interception. McGee tallied four tackles, Reyes three and Wyatt Moorehouse two. Javy Calderon, Seth Beltran, Isaiah Segrest, Vince Eves, Clayton Olivera, Gavin Marlow, Kasey Knight, Amari Vorasaine, Andrew Anderson, and Julian Deweerd also contributed on defense.

North Stockton 

Bengals varsity 32, 

Manteca Chargers 0

Andre Bonvillian posted 55 yards rushing for Manteca.

Andrew Defrenchi and Mario Juarez led the Chargers defense in tackles and Jake Cronin had an interception. 

 

Junior varsity

20 Bengals 20, Chargers 12

Manteca’s Damariea Long had eight carries for 55 yards and an interception. 

John Herrera was 3 of 5 passes for 25 yards. 

Chris Chavez, Aiden Rhine and Luckey Jhadis had three tackles a piece for the Chargers with Herrera and Valentino Contreras contributing on defense. 

 

Novice

Bengals 38, Chargers 18

Darien East ran for a with 70-yard touchdown on the first play of game. Darien East had a 90-yard return and a 30-yard run for the Chargers. 

Shane Sanez had an interception for Manteca. Dom Roa added two tackles, Hunter Clinkenbeard two and Keiante Wakefield. Brandon Buchanan and Pedro Vejar also contributed on defense. 

 

Junior novice

Bengals 30, Chargers 20

Manteca’s Tobias Cox Jr. ran in a 50-yard touchdown to start the game for Manteca. 

Josaiah Law-Lartigue added two touchdowns for the Chargers with Zack Behrbaum and Junior Evans contributing on offense. 

Behrbaum and Evans had four tackles apiece, Cox three and David Gloria two. 

 

CenCal

Atwater Falcons peewee 43, Manteca Raiders 0

DeAndre Patterson gained 35 yards on six carries with seven tackles for Manteca.

Santino Kantun (fumble recovery) and Danny Olaguibel made four tackles for the Raiders and Max Combs made three stops.
