Knights dominate Denair in sophomore contest

Ripon Christian’s sophomore girls basketball team rolled to another blowout victory in Southern League play Thursday, crushing visiting Denair, 50-10.

The defending conference champion improved to 4-0, 11-2 overall. The Knights shot out to a 21-2 first-quarter lead and kept up effort through unselfish play.

Kirstin Bowman led the way with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Elisabeth Regusci chimed in with eight points, six assists and four steals. Carly Tillema hauled in nine rebounds, and Adrianna Van Groningen contributed with eight assists and eight steals.

“My team played really well tonight,” Ripon Christian coach Pam Bowman said. “They played together as a team, and it was a pleasure to see them with so many assists and steals.”

The varsity result was unavailable as of press time. The varsity Knights were undefeated in league (10-2 overall) coming in and will next face 2011 SL titlist Turlock Christian on the road next Tuesday.
