VALLEJO – The Manteca High girls basketball team bounced back from a three-point loss Thursday with an impressive 81-26 blowout over Deanza High.

The win pushes Manteca into the Bethel Tournament consolation championship, where it will meet up with Novato High.

Sharon Washington poured in 21 for the second consecutive game and Davina Bennett finished with 15. Dallas Mould was the third Buffalo in double digits with 12 points, while Mariah Navarro and Jaqi Gutierrez both had eight.

Manteca (1-1) will try and close out a positive tournament showing with a consolation title win over Novato.

“This was a good solid team win for us,” Manteca head coach Andrea Hiatt said. “All of our players scored, so that was good to see. Now we just look forward to ending the tournament on a positive note. “

The two teams are scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. tipoff.

Ripon Christian 63, Brookside Christian 31
Kelsey Tillema led the Knights with a double-double, finishing with game highs in points and rebounds with 22 and 13, respectively. Brookside Christian jumped to a 13-10 first quarter lead only to see Ripon Christian explode over the next two periods, culminating in a 24 point lead heading into the final period.

“Our defense tightened up and did a wonderful job limiting Brookside to limited offensive shots,” Ripon Christian head coach Kirk Tillema said. “We made adjustments after the first quarter and they proved to be effective against Brookside’s perimeter game.”

Mikaela Alger and Raeann DeRousse finished in double figures, chipping in 11 and 10, respectively.
