East Union’s girls soccer team had a strong showing in the Pitman Extreme Spring Tournament last Friday and Saturday, finishing with three wins and a tie in four matches.
The Lancers opened with a 5-1 throttling of Grace Davis followed by an 8-0 blowout of Los Banos. They went on to blank Golden Valley 3-0 but battled Ceres to a 1-1 draw in the finale despite outplaying the opposition.
Standout sophomore striker Isela Rivera finished tournament action with seven goals and two assists, including a hat trick against Los Banos. Stephanee Sabala also poured in three goals in the Los Banos game.
Meghan Wallace contributed four goals and two assists. Isabela Rivera had a promising debut for East Union, as the freshman scored once and assisted four others — including the game-tying goal by older sister Isela in the second half of the Ceres game.
Madison Meyer, another freshman and one of five currently on the roster, chimed in with a goal and an assist. Regina Dias scored once, while Kayla Lamont and Alexandre Lecci each had an assist.
Freshman goalkeeper Adrieanna Wood finished with four saves and two shutouts.
