Everything went according to plan for the East Union Lancer golf squad as they remained unbeaten with a convincing win over the Ceres Bulldogs.

The Lancers (12-0 VOL) got another superb round from Jackie Keter who finished the day with medalist honors with a round of 42. Teammate Jillian Goulart finished five-strokes off the pace with a 47 and Frances Telles followed up her medalist honors round Tuesday with a nine-hole score of 45.

Tori Souza also finished with a 45 and Salina Tiscareno shot a 55.

“Frances, Tori and Jillian all played well for us,” co-head coach Brian Goulart said. “Salina turned in her personal best for the year, so we were proud of that.”

Heather Craft shot a 58 to round out the Lancer scoring. East Union will try and keep their streak alive when they play host to the Weston Ranch Cougars Monday at Manteca Golf Park, setting up the VOL championship match Tuesday against one loss carrying Sierra High.

“It’s very exciting to have crosstown rivals battling for the VOL title for the 4th year in a row,” Goulart said. “EU vs Sierra has become an awesome match up for women’s golf.”

Manteca 200, Central Valley 233
The Buffaloes were able to move their impressive Valley Oak League mark up another notch with a 30-plus stroke win over Ceres High.

Danielle Roberts and Melissa Bond shared medalist honors with rounds of 39, while teammate Kaylee Joaquin was a single stroke off the lead with a 40. Chandler Rose and Micaela Dias finished the round with 41’s in one of the team’s best rounds of the season.

Manteca will look to make it two in a row when they make the long trek to Sonora to take on the Wildcats today in a huge VOL matchup.

“I think we have a little confidence heading into the Sonora match,” Manteca head coach Greg Conway said. “The girls are playing pretty solid and consistent and that is where we need to be heading up to Sonora.

“They have a tough course and they will play us pretty hard. We cannot afford a lot of mistakes.”
