Lancer bats blazing in win over Manteca

The East Union sophomore softball team had the bats working overtime Wednesday at Lincoln Park in an 11-1 win over Manteca High.

Kelsey Emmerson (2 RBIs) and Jessica Lavoie (3 RBIs) both had four hits for the Lancers, while Salina Tiscareno, Blanca Segura and Kalyn Delao (2B) had three each.

Jenny Ketner cruised in the circle, tossing a complete-game, two-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Tara Dadasovich smacked a double for the Buffaloes, and Amy Douglass had an RBI single.

“The girls played well, the hitting is coming along,” EU head coach Ronnie Tiscareno said. “Usually we have one bad inning, but we didn’t have any breakdowns.”

Both EU (6-2 Valley Oak League, 11-5) and Manteca will now gear up for the sophomore version of the Nor-Cal Classic softball tournament starting today at Northgate Park.

Sierra 21, Weston Ranch 1

The Timberwolves racked up 12 hits and 17 walks in the win.

C.C. Nevarez (K) and Chelsea Bereta (4 K’s) split pitching duties and both did damage at the plate.

Nevarez was 2 for 2 with three runs scored and two RBIs, while Bereta blasted a three-run shot.

Allison Smith was 2 for 3 with three runs scored, and Randi Heriford was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

All 12 T’Wolves reached base and all 12 scored.

Sierra (5-3 VOL, 10-5-1) kicks off the Nor-Cal Classic today at 5 p.m.

Sierra 11, Oakdale 4

Tied at four apiece heading into the fifth, the T’Wolves busted it open with three in the inning and four in the sixth.

Briane Lenoci struck out eight in the one-hit victory and had three hits and two runs batted in.

Shakira Lewis was 2 for 4 with two runs scored, and Victoria Schneider (RBI) scored three more.

Lily Gonzales scored two and Shelby Shirron batted two more home.
