Despite gusting winds and freshly aerated greens at Manteca Park Golf Course, East Union produced its lowest round of the season: A 212, 34 strokes better than Manteca High.
Leading the way was Kyle Harman, who shot a 2-over-par 38. Tanner Bragg was right on Harman’s heels with a 40.
“I was really pleased with them,” EU head coach Dennis Wells said. “Tanner came around, everyone was in the forties. It was windy and the greens were sanded. To shoot a 212 was pretty impressive.”
Jordan Duvall and Ryan Plumb were outstanding, shooting, 43 and 44, respectively, while Evan Lewis (47) wasn’t far behind.
Guillermo Barajas had the throw-out with a 51, which would’ve been good for third on Manteca’s scorecard.
The hole of the day went to Manteca’s Kenny Summers, however, who sent in a 15-foot eagle putt on the par-5 Hole 9, to finish with a 40.
Nick Gonzales shot a 46, Jared Woolf a 51 and Tyler Canady a 54.
Jeremy Resuello and Casey Benson split throw-out honors, both shooting 55.
East Union will now gear up for a showdown with Valley Oak League-leading Sierra this afternoon at Manteca Park.
