Lancers ride to victory over Bear Creek, 5-2

Thanks to Jillian Goulart’s complete game, the East Union Lancers were able to claw their way to a 5-2 victory over the Bear Creek Bruins Thursday afternoon during the NorCal Classic softball tournament in Tracy.

Goulart gave up two runs in her seven innings from the mound to get the win, and teammates Brittany Lamar and Kailee Nuding each contributed a pair of hits to help spark the offense that would carry East Union to victory. Jillian Costa also went two-for-three from the dish during the contest.

But the victory was a nice rebound over the late-inning heartbreak they suffered at the hands of Modesto Christian earlier in the day.

After Brittany Lamar blasted a 3-run homerun and Kelsey Emerson had scattered a handful of hits throughout six innings on the mound, the Crusaders capitalized on an error that scored two runs and put them ahead in the contest – nullifying Lamar’s complete game, seven-hit performance.
