Lancers serve up loss for Cougars

East Union kept host Weston Ranch on its heels thanks to big serving runs from Jordyn Posz and Destiny Flores.

Posz served up 20 points, while Flores fired six aces in the Lancers’ four-game victory (25-12, 13-25, 25-20, 25-11).

East Union evened its Valley Oak League record to 2-2 while improving to 8-11. Meanwhile, the rough start to league continues for Weston Ranch (0-4, 4-5), which has dropped four straight after a promising preseason.

Posz also had 13 assists and two aces. Flores led all players with 11 digs to go with her 14 service points. Edmi Lopez and Haley England hammered six and five kills, respectively.

The Cougars were spearheaded by Elizabeth Alexander’s 10 kills and Priscilla Baul’s eight. Shayla Moore contributed two blocks and two aces, and Jazelle Pereña set 13 assists.



Central Catholic 3,
Lathrop 0

In Modesto, Central Catholic (4-0, 8-5) continued its hot start in VOL action at the expense of Lathrop (0-4, 1-8). Game scores were 25-11, 25-16, 25-11.

Sarah Pacheco and Jaime Ready each had 10 digs for Lathrop. Lauren Nicholson (nine kills) was among the Raiders hitters to keep Lathrop’s back line busy. Desiree Mendola (five kills) and Ashley Diboki (four blocks) were other leaders for the Spartans.

Ripon Christian (2-1, 13-5) had its league winning streak halted at 58, as SL newcomer Orestimba (3-1, 10-10-1) rolled to a stunning 25-15, 26-24, 25-22 victory.

Carly Eastham recorded nine assists and four aces for the Knights. Dani Erdelatz doled out seven kills while adding seven assists. Makenna Koslosky and Rachel Faure contributed nine and eight digs, respectively. Julia Ray racked up three blocks.
