Lancers take to the skies for win

After a slow first quarter East Union road the hot hand of Jack Weaver to put up 22 second-period points on the way to a 42-30 non-league road win over Johansen-Modesto.

 “We started slow,” Lancers coach Willie Herrera said. “But we picked it up in the second quarter and put it together.

 “We got the win. That was the main thing.”

 Weaver had a monster night, completing 8 of 10 passes for 210 yards with touchdown throws to Austin Miller (three receptions, 129 yards) of 15 and 80 yards and an 18-yard scoring toss to Bailey Simons that put East Union ahead 7-0. Weaver had scoring runs of 1 yard and 3 yards.

 Angel Sena (eight carries, 85 yards) had the other Lancers score on a 15-yard run.

 Miller (forced fumble, fumble recovery) and Sena each had an interception while Apollo Holmes, Luis DaSilva, Deon Mackson and Simons each had a sack.
