Lathrop boys fall to No. 12 in Division IV power ratings

Lathrop High’s boys basketball team took a big step backward in its quest for a first Sac-Joaquin Section playoff berth.

The Spartans, who are on a three-game losing streak dropped down to No. 12 from 7 in Division IV, according the second release of the SJS power ratings. Also in Division IV, Ripon jumped two spots up to the 10th seed.

East Union’s boys rose three spots to No. 18 in Division III after winning two Valley Oak League games last week.

The top 16 teams qualify for the playoffs in Divisions I-IV, top 12 in Division V and top eight in Division VI. The top teams from the area remain where they started last week.

Sierra and Weston Ranch of the VOL are No. 2 and 4, respectively in Division III boys, and Ripon Christian is still third in Division V.

East Union (3), Weston Ranch (7) and Manteca (8) stay put in the Division III girls ratings, as do Ripon (3) and Ripon Christian (3) in Divisions IV and V.

Power ratings will be released by the section online at www.cifsjs.org on Feb. 13. The final games of the regular season take place text week.
