The Oakdale swim program had their way with East Union on Friday afternoon.

Except when Janelle Macedo and Hayley Boyd were in the pool.

The Mustangs rode into the weekend with two comfortable victories. Oakdale’s boys lapped East Union 128-42, while the girls cruised to a 105-65 win.

Macedo and Boyd were among the few bright spots for the Lancers, each earning an individual victory. They later teamed with two others to win the 400-yard freestyle relay – East Union’s only on the afternoon, boys or girls.

Boyd finished alone in the 500 freestyle, pulling away from Oakdale’s Rhonda Vanderburg for a winning time of 6 minutes, 10.87 seconds. Vanderburg was nearly 15 seconds back.

Macedo was tops in the 200 individual medley with a 2:34.68, nearly 9 seconds faster than runnerup Cece Hurst of Oakdale.

The two were joined by Kimmy La Mar and Hannah Estrella on the 400 free relay team, which clocked a winning time of 4:28.53.

Scott Fisher was the only event winner for the Lancer boys. He edged Oakdale’s Ben Kirby in the 50 free with a 24.88.
