MODESTO – Manteca held Gregori to single digits for three quarters Friday on the way to a 58-42 win in third-round action of the Mark Gallo Invitational boys’ basketball tournament at Central Catholic High School.
Domonick Victor and Jorge Cedano led a balanced Buffaloes attack with Victor notching a double-double at 10 points and 10 rebounds and Cedano just missing one at 10 points and eight assists. Dylan Gross (five points) pulled down 11 rebounds for Manteca (6-1).
Luke McClellan of the Jaguars (6-4) led all scorers with 13 points.
Manteca faces Immanuel of Reedley for fifth place today at 3:30 p.m.

The Indians (3-6) were victimized by mistakes in a third-round game that was close from tipoff to the final buzzer.
“It was back and forth all night,” Ripon coach Justin Graham said. “It was pretty close but we couldn’t find a rhythm.
“We were plagued by 23 turnovers, a lot of them unforced.”
Vincent Olmo led the Indians with 13 points and Troy Brogan added 12.
Ripon winds up the tournament this morning at 9:30 against Christian Brothers of Sacramento.

ELK GROVE – The Lancers (6-5) ran out of time in the second-round contest
“Union Mine went on a 16-0 run to start the 3rd quarter,” East Union coach James Ward said. “They dominated us on the glass and played harder than us.
“We hit some 3’s in the fourth, made a run and cut it down to 10, but time was not on our side.”
Christian Cuevas led the Lancers with 20 points behind five 3-pointers and Parm Khattra chipped in 16 points.
The Lancers face Calaveras at 1 p.m. today.

TRACY – The Spartans (6-5) rebounded from a tough opening-round loss with a convincing second-round win.
Lathrop’s Noah Urbina Thiery led all scorers with 15 points followed by Walton Whatley with 12 points.
Ripon Christian 69, Modesto 56
RIPON – The Knights (5-4) came from behind in the second quarter and outscored the visiting Panthers (5-5) 24-9 in the third quarter for a 34-26 halftime lead in the non-league contest.
Ripon’s Cade Alger led all scorers with 22 points. Brock Nunes chipped in a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebunds and Jacob Van Groningen added nine points.
“Cade played well offensively and the supporting cast made shots,” Knights coach Mark Hofman said. “It was a good shooting night.”
Dylan Peterson led Modesto with 17 points.

RIPON – The Indians (4-2) scored five goals in the first half and rotated players around in the second half, outshooting the Hawks (0-9) 25-1.
Ripon’s Ari Scholton notched a hat trick in the first 14 minutes and finished with three goals.
Aubree Palon had a goal and two assists for the Indians, Hailey Peterson added a goal and an assist, Devaney Dougherty chipped in a goal and Tiara Chavez got her first goal of the season.

Sierra 3, Sanger 1
BAKERSFIELD – Jadyn Shinn scored three quick goals for the Timberwolves (11-1-1).
“We were up 3-0 early and they scored a late goal,” Sierra coach Manuel Pires said. “Our goal keeper was outstanding.
“It was a good win against a tough team.”
Michaela Bitle posted 10 saves for the Timberwolves with Callie Crain, Juliana Rodriguez and Tiana Cello each getting an assist.
Sierra faces Liberty of Madera in a semifinal contest this morning.
