Manteca downs Sierra
Reis collects 11 kills for Buffaloes

Manteca defeated visiting Sierra 25-10, 25-14, 25-10 in Valley Oak League volleyball action Tuesday at Winter Gym.

 Payton Reis had 11 kills for the Buffaloes (3-1 VOL, 5-4 overall). Melissa Hansen added 12 service points with three aces, Morgan Miramontes had 11 service points with seven aces and four kills, Kaitlyn Morenzone had 13 assists and three kills and Casey Bolding 10 assists and three blocks. Aryana Martinez and Alison Hoyer had four kills each.

 “I thought we served really well,” Manteca coach Kevin Bolding said. “And we passed a lot better than we have been.”

 Brianna Padua had eight digs and three kills for the Timberwolves (0-4, 3-8) and Cecilia Salcedo had seven assists.



East Union 3, Weston Ranch 0

 The Cougars got closer in each set but could not close the gap as the Lancers won in three, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22

 Haley England had 11 kills and three aces for East Union (2-2, 6-5). Melissa King added 11 kills and 16 assists Alissa Burrola had 16 service points with two aces.

Jennifer Viguerias led Weston Ranch (2-2, 7-8) with 21 digs and 16 assists. Amaya Finley had 13 kills and Iris Murphy two aces.

 

Central Catholic 3,
Lathrop 0

The Spartans (2-2, 4-5) kept it competitive but were swept 21-25, 18-25, 23-25.



Sophomores

Manteca 2, Sierra 

Emma Brierly had four aces for the Timberwolves in their 12-25, 21-25 loss.

It came down to the wire twice but the Buffaloes pulled out a 28-26, 16-25, 15-13 win.

Alexis Surnip had 11 service pts with six aces and a kill for the Timberwolves. Teresa Benham added 10 service points and Laila Marte had two kills.
