Manteca ends it early with 7-run fifth

WESTON RANCH — Manteca wrapped up a textbook 16-3 win over Weston Ranch Wednesday with a seven-spot in the fifth inning.

Mariah Navarro got the start and was fantastic, allowing just five hits and striking out four.

Melissa Bond provided the big bat, going 3 for 3 and was a homer run shy of the cycle. with three runs scored and four RBIs, while Kayla Campbell was 3 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Trina Solario was 1 for 2 with a two-run double, Chellsee Lee was 1 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs scored, and Danielle Roberts added a hit, an RBI and a run.

Serena Hernandez was 1 for 3 with a triple for Weston Ranch, while Alexandra Alvarado, Natalie Wood and Angelysa Washington all went 2 for 3.

The Buffaloes wrap the season with contests against Oakdale, Sierra and EU, with a chance to end one or two seasons early.

“We would love to spoil one of their seasons, it doesn’t matter who,” Buffs head coach Todd Hardcastle said. “That’s just the way it is, and the way it’s always been.

“Our girls are not done yet.”
