Manteca maintains perfect VOL record

Manteca High’s girls tennis team continued its Valley Oak League title defense with a 9-0 shutout of visiting Lathrop on Tuesday.

The Buffaloes, who improved to 4-0 in league and 7-3 overall, dominated all three doubles matches, losing only a single game. At No.1 doubles, Alondra Avila and Jasmine Ellington defeated Lexi Bonifacio and Trisha Garlit, 6-0, 6-1. Manteca’s Kaitlyn Hoyer-Haylee Both and Yadria Avila-Gladis Sandoval tandems blanked their opponents.

Liz Diaz held off Jaynah Palma in the battle of No. 1 singles players. Sealy McAdams (6-0, 6-2), Elizabeth Tolbert (6-3, 6-4), Julia Saling (6-1, 6-2), Fechi Nkwocha (6-1, 6-1) and Allison Rachels (6-0, 6-0) took care of the rest.

Manteca looks to keep it rolling Thursday at Kimball.



Weston Ranch 9, Sonora 0

In Stockton, No. 2 Donika Ramos eked out the lone three-set win of the contest, beating Sonora’s Hannah Smith, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Delarine Barut (6-2, 6-1), Kazoua Vang (6-2, 6-4), Preet Kaur (6-0, 6-2), Yesenia Reynoso (6-2, 6-1) and Melissa Outama (6-1, 6-0) earned convincing wins for the Cougars (2-3).

Christine Novoa and Amy Vang worked hard for their straight-sets win at No. 1 doubles, 7-5, 6-4. Kim Valladeres and Jasmee Sembhi prevailed, 6-1, 6-1. Mary Vang and April Vang capped the shutout, 6-1, 6-0.
