Ramon Rojas finished with a hat trick, but it was Aron Navarrette’s goal in the 65th minute that proved to be the difference as Manteca fended off visiting Kimball  in a wild 5-4 Valley Oak League win on Thursday.

Rojas scored three unassisted goals, and the Buffaloes (1-2 VOL, 5-5-1 overall) appeared to be on their way to a lopsided win with a 4-1 lead.

Kimball (1-2-1, 3-5-1) had other plans, getting three unanswered goals from Victor Diaz, Dominic Souza and Tristen Powers to tie it. Navarrete countered with his go-ahead score about a minute later.

“Both teams had chances after that,” Manteca coach Justin Coenenberg said. “We held on for the win.”

Brian Cerpas contributed a goal on a penalty kick in the first half. Goalie Matsua Garcia-Mendez recorded four saves.
