Mikaella Manto and the Sierra girls golf team are off to a winning start in their 2021 season.
A Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament qualifier last year, Manto carded an impressive 1-over-par 37 at Manteca Park Golf Course on Monday, highlighting the Timberwolves' 293-319 win over visiting Kimball.
Lovi Vakalahi paced Kimball with a 51, the second best score of the match.
Jenna Villanueva contributed a 56 for Sierra. Julia Erdman added a 58, Anna Dickinson a 68 and Rylee Zavala a 74.
Sierra returns to Manteca Park today to face Weston Ranch.
Ripon Christian at Manteca
Neither team fielded a full squad at Manteca Park Golf Course.
Ripon Christian's Allison Mendes and Caitlyn Van Gorkum shared medalist honors with 62s. They were followed by Natalie Mendes' 72 and Katie Van Unen's 73.
Manteca's Emalyn Lundbon finished third overall. Isabella George and Jasmine Nieto also competed for the Buffaloes.

Lathrop 6, Grace Davis 3
Illianna Garcia Landa helped set the tone with her commanding 6-0, 6-0 win from the No. 1 singles spot in Modesto.
Lathrop also had key efforts from newcomers Hailey Hunter and Godwina Ogbeide. Hunter rolled to a 6-2, 6-3 win, while Ogbeide won, 6-0, 6-1. Ruby Chavez forced a third set in the No. 4 match after rallying to win the second set 7-6 but fell short in the super tiebreaker.
