There weren’t too many things that went right for the Sierra Timberwolves Tuesday, as they fell in Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Team Championships 9-0 Tuesday to McClatchy.

The Timberwolves ran into the Metropolitan Conference’s No. 1 seed and it was one-sided. Sierra got its strongest challenge from Vannida Nguyen’s effort against McClat-chy No. 1 Juliann Wang 0-6, 6-1, 1-6. No other Sierra singles or doubles players were able to get three sets.

“Vannida and Naomi (Nunis) had very competitive matches,” Sierra head coach Vanessa Weeks said. “And everyone else played well which isn’t always reflected in the scores.

“We were happy with our season’s outcome and excited to make it to the second round of sections.”

Nguyen and doubles team Nunis and Anna Cardenas will continue their seasons in Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Individual Championships Thursday at Johnson Ranch in Roseville.
