MHS closes VOL season with wins against CV

CERES — Manteca’s boys and girls teams closed out the Valley Oak League’s regular season with victories over host Central Valley Thursday.

The double-dual meet also featured Ceres, but the Buffaloes’ results against it were not available as of press time.

The Manteca boys contingent defeated Central Valley 81-64, and the girls prevailed 68-60 after winning the 4x400 relay.

Julianna Flores anchored Manteca’s win on the girls side, taking first in the 100- and 200-meter dashes as well as the high jump. She was also on the winning 400 relay team.

Karen Marks contributed first-place points in the long jump and was the runner-up in the triple.

Niko Allen led Manteca’s boys with wins in the 300 hurdles, long jump and 4x100 relay. Richie Lopez marked a 45-foot, 3-inch toss to win the shot put, and Cameron Lucas was victorious in the 200 and 400.

Up next is the VOL Championships set for May 9 at Oakdale High.
