Manteca High senior Sharon Washington was named to the ESPN RISE California all-state Division III team for girls basketball this week.

The Chico State-bound guard, whom the Bulletin selected as its All-Area MVP, led the Buffaloes to a 22-5 record and their first Valley Oak League championship since 2000. She averaged 17.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 4.7 steals per game.

The only other Sac-Joaquin Section Division-III representatives on the all-state list were Fantasia Hilliard of Sacramento High and Erimma Amarikwa of Vanden (Fairfield).

Ninety five female players were picked state-wide from Divisions I-V. Mater Dei’s Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis was crowned California Ms. Basketball, following 2010 honoree and Manteca native Chelsea Gray, who won three state titles with St. Mary’s and now plays for Duke University.

Other notable honorees from the region are Ali Gibson and Kendall Kinyon of St. Mary’s (Stockton), the state’s Division-II champion. Gibson is also California’s Division-II Player of the Year.

Modesto Christian freshman Charise Holloway earned a spot on the Division-V list.
