Moreno shines under the lights for Lancers

The final set to decide a victor had to be played under the lights of Manteca Regional Tennis Center.
East Union began the Valley Oak League dual match with Kimball on its home courts  on Tuesday and came away with a thrilling 5-4 win. Isabel Moreno came through with the clincher, overcoming Samantha Nguyen 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the No. 2 singles match.
The Lancers (3-9) also got a singles win from No. 4 player Sarah Gloeckler, who defeated Shreya Ravi, 6-1, 6-2. The rest came from doubles.
Haley Gosney and Nadia Cardona outlasted Kimball’s No. 1 tandem of Deeksha Shakya and Sarah Wilkinson, 6-4, 1-6, 6-0. Nicole Meza Bueno and Carmen Tantaros swept, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. Twins Giana and Julia Telles prevailed, 6-1, 6-3.

Manteca 9, Lathrop 0
The Buffaloes (12-0, 14-1) are a win away from securing a second consecutive outright league championship. They can do so today against visiting East Union and will end the regular season Thursday with Oakdale.
Julia Tang (6-1, 6-1), Koryn Menasco (6-0, 6-3), Taylor Corona (6-0, 6-0), Sahiba Kaur (6-0, 6-3), Stephania Mercado (6-0, 6-0) and Navina Mann (6-2, 6-0) swept their opponents in singles play.
Doubles winners were Rav Dhillon/Julianne Eavenson (6-0, 6-0), Kaileah Johannson/Melissa Poncini (6-0, 6-1) and Noeli Mercado/Isabella Huerta (8-1).
