Junior middle infielder Addison Naranjo is the All-Trans Valley League MVP after leading Ripon (9-1, 19-8 overall) to a fifth consecutive conference championship.
She is among the four Indians to earn major awards, including coach Tanner Jordan, who is Coach of the Year for a fourth straight season. Junior third baseman Izabelle Spurzem is Co-Most Outstanding Offensive Player, and junior Angelina Martinez garnered Co-Most Outstanding Pitcher.
Escalon’s Madison Babasa was named Most Outstanding Player. The Arizona-committed junior outfielder was a bright spot for a Cougars team that went 1-9 in league and 4-16 overall.
Hilmar (4-6, 11-12) has two major award winners in Co-Most Outstanding Offensive Player Camryn Mattos and Co-Most Outstanding Defensive Player Destiny Denys. Senior third baseman Sophia Machado of Orestimba (7-3, 14-12) splits the Most Outstanding Defensive Player award.
Sophomore Kylie Tanney of Hughson (7-3, 15-9-1) shares Most Outstanding Pitcher with Martinez.
Naranjo provided speed and pop in Ripon’s batting order. In 10 league games, she batted .421 with 16 hits, five steals, and three triples — all team-highs. She also plated 11 runs, drove in seven, drilled two homers and two doubles. Defensively, the shortstop/second baseman had just three errors on 36 total chances for a .917 fielding percentage.
Martinez shined in her debut season for Ripon after transferring from St. Mary’s. She delivered every pitch in league for the Indians, going 9-1 with a 1.38 ERA and 80 strikeouts over 66 innings. Martinez was also a key offensive contributor, hitting .294 with eight RBIs.
Spurzem powered Ripon with team-best numbers across the board, recording a .452 batting average, .541 on-base percentage, six doubles, four homers, 12 runs and 13 RBIs.
Hernandez served as the batterymate for two-time TVL MVP Kharime Caratachea, now at San Francisco State, and caught for the reigning Most Outstanding Pitcher. At the plate, she batted .323 with four doubles, two homers and eight RBIs.
Two fellow graduated seniors joined Hernandez on the all-league team. Three-time all-leaguer Chloe Lautenslager hit .304 and scored eight runs while playing first base for the Indians. Outfielder Abigail Stewart batted .419 with 11 runs, two doubles a homer and three steals.
Outfielder Clara Townsend (.452, nine RBIs) received honorable mention.
