Oakdale High nets win at EUs expense

The East Union High boys tennis team fell to Oakdale in Monday’s Valley Oak League affair.

Mathew Vadachira, the Lancers’ No. 3 singles player, delivered the lone win, beating Frankie Dutra in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.

Outside of that, it was all Mustangs.

No. 1 singles player Liam Peters battled East Union’s Luis Tristan, winning in two hard-fought sets, 6-4, 7-5.

Ludvig Westberg defeated the Lancers’ No. 2 singles player, 6-2, 6-1.

No. 4 C.J. Toledo topped Jeffin Abraham of East Union, 6-1, 6-1.

Shivdan Mistry handled the Lancers’ No. 5 player Tarunjit Singh, 6-1, 6-3.

Teo Diaz blanked East Union’s No. 6 player Mitchell Hensley, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Chris Frye and Matt Kjeldgaard, Oakdale’s No. 1 pairing, defeated Kelton DeSouza and Steven Chan.

Gustavo Gutierrez and Zach Nielson stopped Daniel Ngo and Dustin Ngo, East Union’s No. 3 duo, in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.

Golf

Lathrop tops Kimball

TRACY – Christian Guzman fired an even-par 36 to earn medalist honor for the Spartans.

As a team, Lathrop shot a school-best 221 at the nine-hole Old River Golf Course.

Kimball was shorthanded, playing with just four players.

Christian Guzman shot a 36, Matt Bullard carded a 44, and Sebastian Enriquez had a personal-best score of 49, accounting for the Spartans’ tally.
