Salvaging the lone program win with an exclamation point Friday evening at Northgate Softball Complex, the East Union freshman softball team remained undefeated with a 16-1 walloping of the Mustangs.

Amanda Faulkner went the distance in the five-inning masterpiece, allowing one run on three hits and striking out five.

Faulkner also led the way at the dish, going 3 for 4.

Gianna Sellers was 3 for 4 with three RBIs, and Kailee Nuding went 3 for 4 as well.

East Union racked up 16 hits, and everyone in the lineup contributed at least one knock.

“We played good ball again,” EU head coach Ron Kackley said. “We had no errors for the third straight game, but we still have things to work on, like our base running.”

EU (2-0 Valley Oak League, 8-0) travels to Lathrop Tuesday.

Sophomore
Oakdale 11, East Union 2
Up 2-1 heading into the fifth, East Union allowed six in the frame as the Mustangs broke it open.

Jenny Ketner had five strikeouts through five innings, and Jessica Lavoie went 2 for 3.

East Union (1-1 VOL, 6-4) hosts Ceres under the lights Wednesday at Northgate.

Tracy 11, Manteca 3
The Bulldogs, who had over 60 kids tryout for the freshman baseball team this spring, remained undefeated with the blowout win.

Mikey Mathews allowed seven runs (five earned) and struck out two in 2 1/3 innings of work.

\Alex Martinez (1 for 3, 2B) and Danny Gouveia (2 K) finished things up on the mound.

Gouveia reached base three times, Zack Menasco went 1 for 3 with a run scored, and Daniel Miramontes was 1 for 4 with three swiped bags and a run scored.

Manteca (2-0 VOL, 7-2) hosts Central Valley Tuesday.
